New Chair for UDP

The George Town branch of the ruling United Democratic Party (UDP) has a new chairman in the person of Mr Donny Smith following the resignation of Mr Edlin
Myles. Mr Myles, who served as chairman for the past seven months resigned
his position effective 31 October, stating that he had advised the executive
committee of his decision. He said that Hurricane Ivan had forced him to

Prisoners keen to help in clean-up operation
Prisoners
from HM Prison, Northward have been helping clean up the island, clearing
garbage from along roads and cutting down damaged trees. The prisoners
have been clearing debris in Bodden Town, Northward Park, and the grounds
surrounding the agricultural pavilion in Lower Valley. Women prisoners
have been involved too, cleaning up the grounds around the hospice in Crewe Road...

US Owners of Local Company Get Debris Removal Contract
The Central Tenders Committee (CTC) has announced that MC Restoration, a company described by the CTC
as being based in Tampa, Florida, has been awarded the $10 million government
contract for debris removal in the Cayman Islands. A search of the Florida
Division of Corporations database reveals no such entity registered in the State
of Florida...
