Brac gets boost
The Cayman Islands’ Government has approved the concept of a business resilience park on the Bluff on Cayman Brac. In this type of park, all the utilities required to operate an office, such as power, water, phone and network connectivity, are highly available and designed to withstand natural disasters, such as a category 5 hurricane.

Truancy watch now in effect
With the introduction of the shift system into Cayman’s schools, along with a large number of children attending schools overseas, in the wake of Ivan, concerns have been raised over the potential problem of truancy.

Legal wrangling over unofficial dumpsite
The unofficial dumpsite at Spotts,
which was recently closed down, continues to raise controversy with new
allegations that the proprietor of the land where the garbage was being
processed did not sign any document giving permission for the land to be used

The Port Authority continues to fight backlog battles
The
Port Authority team is continuing to do battle on a daily basis with the
backlog, which has built up since imports soared to the Cayman Islands in the
wake of Ivan. From Wednesday 19 January staff will be working on a shift
basis to ensure that operations at the dock and the distribution warehouse will
