No official end date for MC Restoration
The
$10.7 million contract between the US based company MC Restoration and the
Government of the Cayman Islands is nearing its third month and it is unclear as
to when the debris removal contract will end, since the agreement does not give
a specific date. The contract was signed on 11 November and after 82 days
there is still a considerable amount of debris around the Island...

Trailer homes have no utilities
The
much talked about trailer houses have arrived on Island and the keys have been
handed over to the prospective tenants, but the temporary homes cannot be
occupied as electrical power and water are in many cases still not connected. Some of the people renting the trailer homes are angry that the authorities did not hold talks with CUC,
(Caribbean Utilities Company) before hand so as to expedite electrical

Employers must comply with Pension Law
The
new superintendent of the National Pensions Office is chasing up employers to
ensure they are paying pensions on time for employees, and complying with the
National Pension Law. The National Pensions Law (2000 revision) requires
employers to pay 10 percent pension payments for employees, with one half
being contributed by employers and the other half by employees...

Person of the Day - Medria Tibbetts
