More HSA woes

Within hours of the shooting in the Accident and Emergency
Unit at the Cayman Islands Hospital on Wednesday 30 March, it was announced to
the public that the safety and security of patients and staff were not
endangered. It was also announced there would
be a 2.5 percent cost of living increase backdated to 1 January, but it was a
small comfort to some of the nurses working in the Accident and Emergency Unit...

Letter disturbs retired seamen

A letter recently sent to local seamen and veterans is
beginning to raise concerns among members of that section of the community.
The letter, seen by Cayman Net News, appears to have been sent and signed
by Dr the Hon. Frank McField, Minister for Community Services, Youth, Sports and
Gender Affairs, on his Ministry’s letterhead, to a number of members of the
Seafarers’ Association and ex-mariners..

Ritz-Carlton developer owes $10m to subcontractors
Just
two weeks after Cayman Net News reported that several local
subcontractors have complained that the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman developer
Condoco Grand Cayman Ltd has failed to make full payment of the amounts owed
to them, a recent court filing in New York may now provide an indication of
the extent of the situation. Construction firm
Fluor Daniel Caribbean Inc. filed suit in the US last year..
