Success came early for Adam Lawson. Just a few years out of university, he
became the sales manager for a BMW and Buick car dealership in North Carolina.
And since he was doing so well, he bought a corvette. Then he lost his driver’s
license. And since you can’t sell cars without a driver’s license, he also lost

CIDB issues US$12 million bonds

The Cayman Islands Development Bank (CIDB) announced it will be issuing US
$12 million in bonds to facilitate economic and social development in the Cayman
Islands. The funds raised from the bonds will, in turn, be used to develop the
agriculture, tourist, housing and education sectors. The Leader of Government Business, Hon McKeeva Bush said at a special

Global corp gets piece of Island Heritage
ACE
Bermuda Insurance Ltd., one of the ACE Group of Companies has taken a 10
percent stake in local insurance firm Island Heritage. Headed by ACE Limited,
a New York Stock Exchange listed company and a component of the Standard &
Poor’s 500 stock index, the ACE Group has a financial strength rating of A+
from A.M. Best and Standard & Poor’s and wrote more than US$16 billion in
gross written premium in 2004...

Implementing the business staffing plan

The recent exemption to the seven-year fixed term for expatriate workers in the
2003 Immigration Law was among the key topics addressed by the Chairman of the
Business Staffing Plan Board at the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce luncheon
on 27 April. Sherri Bodden-Cowan also stated that in order to enforce the
Business Staffing Plan, there needs to be a coordinated effort between

- Charlene Barnes

With a three-year-old daughter, Jade, in hand and baby
Amber on the way, Charlene Barnes not only went through Ivan six and a half
months pregnant, but was, at the same time, putting plans in place to open the
very chic Focus Hair & Beauty Salon. “Being able to open the doors to the salon,
for the first time, only some 14 weeks after Amber was born, is something for
which I don’t deserve the credit,” said Mrs Barnes.
