Sagicor deal on?

The negotiations for Sagicor to take a 51 percent share in Cayman General
Insurance (CGI) may not be going smoothly. According to sources close to Sagicor,
the Board has not been able to make a decision to finalise the deal because it
has not yet received information concerning due diligence that it has requested
from Cayman National Corporation (CNC). Another source said Sagicor is dragging

Trouble at the Trailer Park

Confusion has erupted between the residents at the West Bay Trailer Park, the
Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), and the National Housing and
Community Development Trust (NHCDT) as several tenants have logged complaints
about safety concerns and about the threatening and disruptive behaviour of some
of their neighbours. Police had been called to the trailer park on four

Police say complainants should stand-up and be counted
The Special Branch of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) say
that as yet although many complaints are being received about illegal activity
in relation to election campaigning – no one is making it official. Sergeant Patrick Beersingh of the RCIPS Special Branch commented on reports

Ecoparty at the National Gallery

The National Galley celebrated the end of Earth Week with some real panache,
flair and style with their ‘Ecoparty’ for children, held outside the Gallery
at Harbour Place in George Town. Children, aged between two and thirteen years
old, came with their parents, to make works of art out of discarded material
such as cardboard tubes used in packing, chip board, paper, old twigs and
anything they could get their hands on....

Person of the Day - Johnson Varghese

‘Paradise’ is not only the name of the restaurant at which he
now works as a waiter but also what he thinks of the Cayman Islands. Johnson
Varghese or Johnnie, as he is called by his friends, made Cayman his home
approximately six years ago, along with his wife and only daughter. “I have
always been in the food and beverage industry. I first worked for Baskin Robbins
in Saudi Arabia before coming here.
