Pines’ big “Thank-you” for recovery help
Pines’ Manager, Sue Nicholson, has been saying a big ‘Thank-you’ to everyone
who has helped the local retirement home recover after Hurricane Ivan. The Pines is presently using nearly half of their building, a testament to
the large amount of help, both in physical terms and in donations, that has come
along since Hurricane Ivan hit, badly damaging the building in George Town. But

Political veteran and former speaker of the Legislative
Assembly, Linford Pierson, after thirty-two years in politics has now decided to
bow out of politics for good. Mr Pierson fought the recent election campaign as

Import License approved to bring in eight dolphins

Dolphin Discovery Cayman Ltd has been granted a license to import eight
dolphins by the Department of Agriculture and the company plans to start work
on a new Dolphinarium within the next three months.Partners Gene Thompson and Dale Crighton have been working to build the

Feeding time to end for Moray eel ‘Psycho’ at the Sandbar and Stingray City
The days could be numbered for the six-foot Moray eel, known as ‘Psycho’
which has become a main attraction on excursions to the Sandbar and Stingray
City. The eel like many of the species, is virtually blind, so finds it hard
sometimes to differentiate between squid, which eels normally feed on, and an
arm or a leg belonging to a human being, especially youngsters. The situation

President of the Sister Islands Swim
Club Jean Scott says the main objective of the club is to build a 25-metre pool
on Cayman Brac. “We have some wonderful talent on the Island and it’s a shame to
see it wasted. The only way we’re going to develop that talent is to get a
25-metre pool. A bunch of parents were talking about this issue at a swim meet
and I decided that the only way this was going to happen was to act.”...
