The Chairman of the Health Services Authority, Steve Scott, has resigned
his position in the wake of the new People’s Progressive Movement Government
taking office. As a prominent member of the United Democratic Party, (UDP) Mr
Scott was a political appointee and his resignation was not unexpected. It is
normal under such circumstances for those in public service posts with a
well-known political position to step down...

Cadet Corps train for Queen’s Birthday

The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps have been hard at work rehearsing for the
Queen’s Birthday Parade that will take place on Saturday 11 June. Officers in
charge of drilling the cadets were Captain Jacky and Lieutenant Henry. “The
cadets are making wonderful progress, and quite a number of our cadets have

Trailer homes remain empty
On Monday 30 May another 30 trailer homes arrived on Grand Cayman and were
distributed to Bodden Town, Fairbanks, and West Bay. In the wake of this
latest shipment however reports have been made to Cayman Net News that there
are still several trailer homes on the Island that are unoccupied.

Visa requirements slow down fast-paced e-ticket travelers

With Jamaica’s new visa requirements for certain foreign nationals, some
e-ticket travellers are now being turned away from the airport before they

Tsunami-warning with new earthquake equipment
The Cayman Islands is soon to receive a custom-built, state-of-the-art
earthquake unit that is now under construction by a California firm. Among the
unit’s many features, is its capability to link into tsunami warning systems. “Remember there is as yet no equipment that can predict an earthquake,”
