Squatters Gone
In the wake of a report by Cayman Net News that squatters had set up
home in George Town Primary School, four Caymanians and seven Jamaicans living
in the condemned buildings were removed on 17 June by the Immigration
Department. The issue however has called attention to the housing crisis among

With a passion for the sciences fourteen-year-old student Emily Bodden who
goes to John Gray High School, lists Math, Chemistry and IT as her favourite
subjects. She says, by dedicating herself to her schoolwork, she hopes one day

Complaints Commissioner calls for Ombudsman for private sector
The Office of the Complaints Commissioner (OCC) was established last year
as an independent body to investigate complaints concerning the public sector,
but recently the office has expressed concern that an Ombudsman may be needed
to deal with complaints, which are not Government related. A call for an Ombudsman for the private financial sector has come from the

Further assistance needed for Recovery
Housing problems remain a primary issue some nine months after the impact
of Ivan and the Chairman of the National Recovery Fund, H.E. the Governor
Bruce Dinwiddy, and his wife Emma Dinwiddy hosted a dinner for members of the
