Cayman’s Top Cop Retires Suddenly
After 29 years of service with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, (RCIPS),
Commissioner Buel Braggs is retiring.
HE the Governor Bruce Dinwiddy said he had accepted the Commissioner’s
decision to retire, which was described as being for personal reasons.
There had been no indication in recent times from the Commissioner that he was
planning on retirement, but it is due to commence almost immediately...

Newly elected MLA facing the challenges and getting things done

For some time the residences of Condor Road, off Shamrock Road, in Bodden
Town have been calling on Government representatives to repair the many pot
holes and clear back the bush on their road, exposing the blind corner at the
double bend, along this particular Bodden Town thoroughfare.
Since the Bypass has opened up there has been an increase of heavy traffic
entering and exiting through Condor Road...

Fluor to appeal verdict
Fluor Daniel Caribbean, Inc, the general contractor that worked on the
Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman project until March last year, has reacted to the
jury’s decision in New York, in favour of the Ritz-Carlton’s developer
Humpreys and has said the firm will be appealing the decision. The contractor
and the Ritz Developer were in court over allegations and counter allegations
after the Ritz terminated Flour’s contract in March last year..

HSA outstanding claims continue to plague insurance firms
The Health Services Authority (HSA) continues to pursue what they cite as
some $4 million in outstanding claims from some five insurance companies. The
Authority has said it will be serving two more writs to insurance firms next
week as it struggles to overcome reported financial problems. Some insurance companies are negotiating a settlement such as British

Seven Seas cancels shipments’ insurance
Residents shipping furniture and appliances from Rooms To Go, City
Furniture and Brandsmart from Miami cannot have their shipments insured by
Seven Seas since 1 April. Many residents travel to Florida to purchase
furniture and appliances and have it shipped to Cayman using a freight
forwarding service by Malvar, located in Miami, which offers Seven Seas as an
insurance option to customers...
