Duty Concession Ends in 30 Days
The 50 percent duty concession for building materials,
furniture, fixtures and appliances has been extended by only one month to 31
October and the Government will not be extending the duty concessions on
office equipment and office fixtures when it expires on 30 September. This was announced by the Leader of Business Government,

Woman freed from elevator ordeal
Firemen rescued a woman who was trapped in the elevator
following an Island-wide power outage on 28 September. Carolina Velasquez, who works at the La Belle
International beauty salon, became trapped in the elevator at Alissta Towers
on North Sound Road when the power was cut off. The elevator had stopped
between the first and second floors and she didn’t have her cell phone to call

Kids turning off tobacco
According to the most recent figures from a National Drug
Council (NDC) survey, tobacco use is down among year 9 and 11 students in the
Cayman Islands. More good news coming out of the survey is that fewer female
