Dyoll Settlement Decision in Court
JOINT liquidator for the bankrupt Dyoll Insurance firm,
Ken Krys, believes a court ruling expected on the company’s assets in Jamaica
next week could have serious implications for the insurance sector in the
Cayman Islands. Mr Krys, who looks after the Cayman side of Dyoll’s
liquidation, said the Jamaican courts would decide next Wednesday what is the
real assets of the company and how they would be disbursed...

Gimistory festival 2005 begins with a workshop
As part of the lead up to the country’s story telling
festival, Gimistory 2005, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) ran
free workshops in the age old art of storytelling recently, at the Kings
Sports Centre, George Town. The workshops were for children and adults. The children’s workshop was conducted by Edgar Ortiz, a
professional and established storyteller from Costa Rica and storyteller Ken

Church ministers call for ban on rapper 50 Cent’s debut film role
THE Cayman Ministers’ Association (CMA) is calling for a
boycott of the film “Get rich or die trying” featuring rapper 50 Cent and
currently being shown at a local cinema at the Marquee Plaza. The body of Cayman church leaders called on the
authorities to step in and knock the film off the local screen. “We encourage
the appropriate authorities to take action to stop this film from being shown
on our shores,” the CMA said...

Visa office in Jamaica seems to be struggling
Reports that the Visa Office in Jamaica was closed
temporarily because of the heavy workload are still unconfirmed. A number of people in the Cayman Islands trying to
contact the visa office in Jamaica to make enquiries have reported to the
Cayman Net News that they could not get through to the office. This has
raised concerns that the office was temporarily closed due to the number of
applications being received..
