to Leader of Government Business, Hon Kurt Tibbetts, “anomalies, ambiguities
and contradictions” in the existing Immigration Law are the reasons behind a
current review of that document. Speaking on 6 January 2006 at the first Media Briefing for the year held by Cabinet Ministers, Mr Tibbetts said that the Immigration Board “is not able to function the way it should.” ...

Lighthouse kids are learning to grow
Following
on the success of last year’s Grow Box Project, the students of the Lighthouse
School will be continuing the Project again into 2006. Deputy Principal Carla Bodden and coordinator of the project said that the students are excited about they project, as “they get to plant the seed and reap the crop.”

Spirit airborne to Cayman
DESPITE
the high cost of fuel and the subsequent rise in airfares, residents in the
Cayman Islands are being promised winter deals by the low-cost US carrier Spirit
Airlines, which makes its inaugural flight here on 9 February. By meeting
the deadlines set for purchase of tickets, travellers could pay as little as

Doubts still surround the death of Dimitri Pappas
The Coroner’s Inquest that could have put the lid on matters relating to the death of Dimitri
Pappas in Bermuda has been delayed. This delay has provoked more
questions around the death of the Cayman resident that saw his family raise
concerns after the Bermuda police declared the death a suicide soon after the
discovery of Mr Pappas’ body. It was on 20 July when his body was found
hanging in a closet in a hotel...
