Port Authority sued
A lawsuit has been taken out against the Cayman Islands Port Authority, which is responsible for the Royal Watler
Cruise Terminal building at the George Town harbour, over the terminal
building. The law firm of Myers and Alberga that represents Ava Marzouca
served a writ on the Port Authority on Friday 10 February, claiming that the
defendant went back on an agreement offering the plaintiff retail space

Maths and Science Fair on the Brac
The work of weeks and, in some cases months, by students and teachers on Cayman Brac was on show for two days at the Aston Rutty Civic Centre in the annual Maths
and Science Fair. Each primary class produced a graphic display to
represent some of what they have been learning in class in these two subjects.
Topics were illustrated in a variety of creative ways from using live animals
to computer graphics...

Spirit plane named for Cayman Islands
A
brand new A319 aircraft acquired by Spirit Airways was last week christened
‘Spirit of the Cayman Islands’, said an official from the US-based low-fare
carrier. The plane was purchased from the Airbus Company in Europe and
landed at Spirit’s maintenance base in Detroit last Thursday, the same day the
airline launched its service to this country...

Ship to ship deal for Cayman Brac stalled
The
prospective-business venture for ship-to-ship transfers, which was set to earn
royalties income for Cayman Brac, is now on hold. Leader of Government
Business, Hon Kurt Tibbetts, confirmed this on 10 February 2006 at a Media

Beckford
Though originally from Jamaica, “the land of wood and water”, Maylyn Beckford
has lived on Cayman Brac for the past five years, where she teaches Year 5 at
