Rollover strikes kids
Over
the past many weeks high-powered lawyers and other adult professionals have
been the talking point when it comes to suffering under the country’s
seven-year roll-over Immigration policy. However, the Week of the
Young Child – 5 to 11 March – brings into focus the impact this policy will
have on Cayman’s kids and, possibly reducing standards in Early Childhood

Something for all the family at 39th Agricultural Show
Thousands
of people flocked to the Cayman Islands Agricultural Society’s 39th
Agricultural Show, at the Agricultural Pavilion in Lower Valley on Wednesday
1 March. Besides the prize animals and plants, there was really
something for everyone in the family at the show. The many different
attractions that continued all day long included pony rides, darts,

Explosions un-nerve residents
Residents
of Wren Lane, next to the Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) headquarters,
say they are scared following three loud explosions and fires on nearby
utility poles. The power company said the area is safe and there is no
need to panic because the incidents were isolated. Four people who
heard the explosions on 6 and 27 February spoke to Cayman Net News
about their frightening experiences...

State of country’s health to be measured
The
Health Services Authority (HSA) will be launching a nationwide survey to
gather data on health, disease and the risk factors of disease for a
National Health Registry. This information will then be used to focus
medical care, treatment and prevention on people who are most at risk for
diseases such as diabetes in this country. It will also form the
foundation for a medical research programme...

Caymanian of the Week - Bridgette Manville
After
spending her early childhood between Cayman Brac and Jamaica, Bridgette
Manville moved to East Sussex in the UK with her mother when she was eleven
years old, and she didn’t move back to the Cayman Islands until she was
twenty-five. They lived in Hastings and later moved to Battle, which
is a very historic area of Britain, and Ms Manville claims she is a “country
bumpkin” at heart...
