Bank robbed, guard shot
At
around 12 noon on Friday 10 March the West Bay Branch of Cayman National
Bank, (CNB) was robbed in broad daylight.
Up to press only hours after the event there was one
confirmed casualty. According to Royal Cayman Islands Police Services
(RCIPS) Media Liaison Officer, Deborah Denis, who spoke with Cayman Net
News, “A security guard working at the bank was taken to hospital.” ...

Liquor licences off probation
Four
business places had their probations lifted on Thursday 9 March when the
Liquor Licensing Board met at the Customs Headquarters in Grand Cayman.
Matrix Nightclub, Club Octopus (now Peppers Lounge), Sammy’s Airport Inn and
Archie’s Place successfully served out their three-month probations, which
began in December. Jillian’s Billiard Lounge and Bar launched a fresh

No more Civil Servants to meet demand of FOI
Hon Alden McLaughlin, Minister of Education, has said that the Government has decided not to hire new staff in the Civil Service, to meet the additional demand on Government workers to supply documents and information to the public when the Freedom of Information (FOI)
legislation is in place. Mr McLaughlin said Government had decided not
to hire new staff but would identify existing staff to take on new
responsibilities...

A Public Records Law is one piece of legislation that the Cayman Islands does not yet have in place, however, Complaints Commissioner, Dr John Epp has said the country is going to need it if the Freedom of Information (FOI)
