Based on information provided in the Legislative Assembly on Friday 17 March 2006, there are approximately 3,300 Civil Servants employed in the Cayman Islands and from amongst them only one has been sent on leave – and that is the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Tim Hubbell. Savannah School celebrates the Commonwealth

Savannah School celebrated commonwealth day on Monday 13 March with a special school assembly, during which each of the classes gave a five-minute presentation on each of the Commonwealth countries they had been studying, including Barbados, Belize, Malaysia, Australia, the UK, India and Jamaica, to name but a few. Caymanians quitting RCIPS

A retired Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) Inspector says a number of the high-ranking Caymanian police officers have reportedly quit the service due to one particular senior officer, and the situation needs to be addressed. Rent rates force families to seek welfare

With housing costs up 19 percent and the inflation rate at seven percent, residents are turning to social services for assistance in the Cayman Islands. Director of Child and Family Services, Deanna Lookloy, said the department is seeing clients that have never sought help before, but now can’t make ends meet with the high rental costs. ... read more..


Call 911 to report marine crime

Residents are being asked to report marine incidents that require an immediate response – such as suspected illegal fishing, poaching or marine pollution directly to 911. This is now possible because the Department of Environment’s Marine Enforcement Unit has upgraded its communications system, allowing direct contact with 911 via the staff’s personal radios.... read more..
