Smaller Government schools planned

Schools in Cayman’s future may only accommodate a maximum of 250 to 300 students. Whereas some of Cayman’s High and Middle School campuses now accommodate approximately 1,000 students and, the Minister of Education, Honourable Alden McLaughlin, was hoping to reduce that number to approximately 800 when new campuses are built.... read more..


39 more Cubans rescued at sea

A total of thirty-nine Cubans have been rescued by passing ships and brought to Grand Cayman in the space of ten days. The most recent group, however, was the only one allowed to disembark. According to a government press release, on Saturday, 25 March, the Merchant Vessel Bustein, on its way to Grand Cayman with a load of aggregate, rescued six Cuban male seafarers. ... read more..

Greater autonomy for school principals

School principals will have more power to make major decisions, some including financial ones, affecting their respective schools.
