Person of the Day - John Peart

Published on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 Email To Friend    Print Version

John Peart

John Peart came to Cayman 25 years ago.

“My adopted mother had a guest house in Jamaica. A lot of Caymanians would visit and stay there, like Dr. Tomlinson, Gloria Bell, Steve Wright and [his] wife and others. One day I said to myself…people from there are so nice, I’ve got to go [and] see what Cayman’s like.”

Mr Peart said that on arrival someone found him a job as a mason’s helper where he learned plumbing and maintenance. For eight years, he ran general maintenance at Treasure Island Resort.

“I met and married my Caymanian wife, Ruth for 19 years. She passed two years ago. I’m still very sad. She was so much fun, loud and loved joking. She was Lucile Seymour’s first cousin,” Mr Peart said.
