Social media ‘ninja’ Giovanni Gallucci will be sharing the tricks of his trade with local business owners and marketing professionals at a one day Social Media Boot Camp to be held at the Wharf restaurant on 9 December.

The seminar, being hosted by Best of Cayman, will allow participants will learn about new age marketing techniques including search engine optimization (SEO), and social media tools for promoting their business online.

Mr Gallucci spent over a decade building online communities and developing search engine technology. He is a promoter and an award-winning new media producer, author, public speaker, successful buzz marketer, technical editor, and social media strategist.

The one-day seminar will be a cross between Public Relations and Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Mr Gallucci explained, noting that the two most-trafficked areas of the web are search engines and social media.

“We are going to be talking about customer service on the web and how it is used as a tool for finding people who are talking positively about your business. We will get those who are not speaking positively to either stop or turn them into evangelists,” Mr Galluci told Cayman Net News.

“I accidentally fell into working for companies who were doing marketing on the web. I have a lot of experience teaching people how to use social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin, and to use these tools efficiently in customer service after the sale.”

“If you have rental property or a restaurant that you are marketing on the Internet, you will want people to talk positively about your brand as they rate your organisation using social media forums on the web,” he said.

He explained that people who are interested in visiting or relocating to the Cayman Islands often do an Internet search before embarking on their trip and they will compare and contrast the various businesses.

“Those people will often refer to forums where businesses are rated for the services that they provide and choose the business with the highest rating,” he said.

“People will decide where they will spend money based on those forums. We will take the good things that folks are saying about your business and make the good stuff rise to the top. Search engine optimisation plays a big part of that,” he said.
