Previously unbeaten By Rite has been replaced at the top of Division 1 after losing to Prison CC. Captain Saheed Mohamed took four wickets to ensure that his side was chasing only 162, which they achieved with six wickets to spare.

Cayman Brac Cricket Team made one of its twice-annual visits for a pair of matches at the Division 2 level, which saw them end Esso Cubs' streak of consecutive wins stretching back to the start of last season.

The Cubs, containing a number of players who also represent Division 1 teams, was a prohibitive favourite for the game but were pegged back to a score of 169 all out - a score that could have been much lower but for the 50 extras conceded by the Brac bowling attack.

Captain Sahadeo Sohan had brought himself on as the eighth bowler in the innings, hoping to extract some turn from a slow wicket after his quicker bowlers had been frustrated.

He returned team-best figures of 3 for 23 and then proceeded to top-score with 62 not out as his side chased down the Cubs total.

Steve Coates had negotiated a tough opening spell by the Cubs' Ezra Hewitt, but then holed out to Kervin Ebanks at long on for 40, just as he was starting to find time the ball well.

Coming down to the last over the Brac needed eight runs to win and managed seven, leaving the game tied and the Cubs relieved to at least remain unbeaten.

This weekend sees the start of the Women's Cricket League at the John A. Cumber Primary School ground. Four teams: The Stingrays, Panthers, Greenies and Motown will be competing.
