LIME gives bonus credit for text and online top ups

Chris Dehring of LIME

LIME prepaid customers can now top up their phones by sending a text message to the Caribbean telecom company’s new “Self Top Up” service.

“LIME’s exclusive Self Top Up service is the quick and easy way to add minutes anywhere, anytime, from overseas, on the road, or from the comfort of your own home,” said Chris Dehring, LIME’s chief marketing officer.

“With ‘Self Top Up,’ LIME prepaid customers are strictly in control of when to top up their prepaid service balance,” he added, “either for themselves or for family and friends using their LIME mobile handset or their personal computers.”

This service, the first of its kind in the Caribbean, according to Mr Dehring, saves the need to visit a Top Up vendor or retail outlet, and it is available in all LIME Caribbean countries.

To take advantage of LIME’s new service, customers can register on line at www.time4lime.com, using an international credit or debit card, then follow the steps to create a handset profile, get a five-digit security PIN, and then top up their minutes. A one-time set up fee of US 40 cents applies.

To Self Top Up from your LIME mobile handset, customers can text: TU, the 5-digit security PIN, the number to be topped up and the top-up amount to the number 122. In addition, until 31 March, customers get 50% bonus credit every time they Self Top Up either by text or online.

I think this is a fantastic idea! About time too. It’s way too much hassle going to a shop to top up; especially if you don’t have a car! So I say well done LIME on being the first telecommunications company on the island that actually puts customer service first!

Amar Sheow:
This is another marketing gimmick that we, the customer, will have to pay for. Why don't you reduce costs to us in the monthly rates, and cut out the gimmicky item charges instead? Advertise less since we know who and where you are if we want service. We want lower prices; not gimmicks!
