UCCI Orientation Meetings
Because of the impact of Hurricane Gustav on Cayman Brac, Student Orientations for all students at UCCI’s Brac Campus in the Associate, Bachelor Degree and Certificate Programmes will now take place on Thursday 4 September from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at the Brac Campus located at 20 Kirkconnell Street, opposite District Administration. Parents and Guardians are also welcome to attend. Classes for the Fall Semester starts on Monday 8 September. Call 948-8128 for further information.

Business After Hours hosted by Ronco Cayman Communications - 2008.
Camana Bay’s data and communications provider Ronco Cayman Communications invites Chamber Members and guests to take a tour of the state of the art facility at a special Business After Hours in Gardenia Court, Camana Bay on Thursday 4 September from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Cayman Wildlife Rescue’s Monthly Meeting
Cayman Wildlife Rescue’s monthly meeting will be held at the National Trust Office in Dart Park on Thursday, 4 September at 6:00 pm. This meeting is open to all new volunteers wanting to assist in the rescue and release of injured, sick and orphaned native and endemic species. ICCI Fall 2008 Late Quarter Registration
Late Registration is now in effect at the International College of the Cayman Islands. Orientation for new, transfer and readmitted students is scheduled for Thursday, 4 September and late registration will be from Monday 8 September through Friday 12 September. However, classes begin 8 September. New applicants may email admissions@myicci.com or call 947-1100 during working hours (Tuesdays through Thursdays).

Oneness Apostolic Church hosting Week of Prayer
Oneness Apostolic Church at 148 School Road, West Plaza, George Town, has begun a Week of Prayer and Fasting from Sunday 31 August to Sunday 7 September nightly. Call 917-0580 for further information.

Church of God Chapel’s Sunday Worship Changes
The Church of God Chapel, Academy Way and Walkers Road, announces a change in their worship service schedule.  Beginning Sunday, 7 September, Sunday services will commence at 9:00 am and 10:45 am. Call the church at 949-9393 for further queries.

St Ignatius Catholic Church’s Series of Classes
As part of the yearlong celebration of the life and mission of St Paul the Apostle, St Ignatius Catholic Church will be hosting a Scripture Study of St Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians from Monday 8 September from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the St Ignatius Catholic School. Health Sciences Career Lecture
The above Health Lecture was postponed due to inclement weather. Dr. Jimi Larose, M.Med., from  Florida, will talk on “Emerging Career Opportunities for Advancement in the Health Sciences” at Root’s Delight, Cayman Centre # 7 (opp. Airport Post Office) on Friday 12 September from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Saturday 13 September from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Cancer Society hosts Awareness Session
The Cayman Islands Cancer Society will be hosting a free ovarian and endometrial cancer awareness session in Cayman Brac on Wednesday 17 September at Biggies Conference Room beginning at 7:30 pm. The speaker will be Dr. Maria Diaz from Cleveland Clinic Florida. Refreshments will be served. Call 949-7618 for more information.

Cayman’s Our Little Miss Beauty Pageant
Cayman’s Our Little Miss is now accepting applications forms for the upcoming Beauty Pageant to take place on 11 October 2008 at Mary Miller Hall for Ages 0 Months to 28 years. Application forms can be collected from Island Photo. For further information or to collect application forms call 928-5673 or (949-4708 after 6:00 pm).  Final registration will take place on 20 September at the Red Bay Primary School open area.

National Gallery and Morgan Gallery hosts raffle to raise funds
The National Gallery is working alongside Geraldine Morgan of the Morgan Gallery to help raise funds for well-known artist Nickola McCoy-Snell, as her son was born premature and the family is in need of funds. But as a way for Nickola to give back she has offered her work as prizes for the raffle which will draw on 24 September at the Morgan Gallery. The lucky winners will acquire original paintings of significant market value which would gain a large return on the $10 investment.

Mad Hatter Tea Party and Fashion Show
The F.S. Youth Hall’s Mad Hatter Tea Party and Fashion Show, which was previously scheduled for 30 August but was cancelled due to Hurricane Gustav, will now take place on Saturday 27 September at Pedro St James from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Reward offered for Missing Cat

St Ignatius Catholic Church’s Series of Classes

National Gallery’s Exhibition From Within VI
The National Gallery through its Outreach Programmes will be having its annual exhibition which highlights a collection of the best works from each of the nine outreach programmes. The exhibition is currently on and goes thru Wednesday 15 October. All items are on sale. 6:00 pm at Harbour Place. Refreshments available.

Cayman Islands Museum’s Gift Shop has relocated
The Cayman Islands Museum’s gift shop has been relocated and is now at Pasadora Place Complex, Smith Road and continues to serve the public Mondays to Fridays. It is closed on Saturdays.

National Gallery’s Ladies Scrapbooking

Museum seeks photos and information
Administrators of the Cayman Islands Museum are appealing to the public for any building-related historic photographs and information, to be used for reference purposes only.
Urgently required are photographs of the exterior and interior of the Old Courts Building and Gaol and/or information on the former uses of this public building.
Museum staff is also seeking specific objects such as a period gavel, a 1950s policeman’s uniform and, for an unrelated exhibit, a Cayman Turtle Soup can or other objects pertaining to the turtle canning industry.
Persons who may be able to assist with information, photographs or any of the items listed are urged to contact Debra Barnes-Tábora at the Museum by calling 949-8368 or email DebraTabora@museum.ky.

CICS Support Group
The Cayman Islands Cancer Society Support Group is advising that the support group is free of cost to anyone in the community, including anyone who is affected by cancer or family, friends and supporters. Meetings are held every first and third Tuesday of every month at the CICS office on 33 Eclipse Drive, off Eastern Avenue, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Email office@cics.ky for more information.
