The back section of Carolyn Sue Ryan’s house was extensively damaged.
Specialists from the Fire Service and the Police Service are investigating a fire on Cayman Brac last Thursday, which destroyed the home of Carolyn Sue Ryan and left one man nursing severe burns to his body.
According to eye-witnesses, workmen were attempting to remove linoleum from the floor when the blaze started at the home of the retired Nurse Manager at Faith Hospital on Stake Bay Road on Thursday afternoon.
The entire back section of the house was gutted, while other areas received smoke damage.
A source close to Ms Ryan said she had recently repaired her house after it was damaged by Hurricane Paloma last November. The workmen were in the process of tiling the floor.
The man, who suffered burns to his head, hands and legs, was hospitalised.
During the fire, Chief Inspector of Police Patrick Beersingh and his team condoned off the area, while police and fire officials questioned the workmen on the scene. |
