Despite being beaten by John Gray High School teams, Cayman Brac’s Under-18 Warriors’ coach Ventisha Conolly rated her side’s performance as “very impressive”.

“They were able to hold John Gray’s teams which is very impressive noting that they have never played as a team since November,” Ms Conolly told Cayman Net News following defeat in George Town on Friday and Saturday.

The Brackers went down to John Gray’s and Cruisers and Panthers 16 goals to 9 and 24 goals to 11 respectively.

Coach Conolly noted that Hurricane Paloma, which devastated Cayman Brac in November, had displaced a number of her players, with several moving over to Grand Cayman to reside.

“This being our third year, we had prepared in November to participate in the league but after the hurricane our team got disintegrated,” she said.

“Most of my girls have told me that they are here for the long haul and we shall give netball all the commitment we can muster.”

Following the storm, netball was suspended on the Island, leaving the team with limited preparations.
