Golf tournament raises money for Brac recovery

Shahida Seymour and Matthew Wight (Managing Director) of NCB Homes hand over the donation to Dr Mark Laskin (centre), Director of the National Recovery Fund.

The programme for rebuilding of homes destroyed by Hurricane Paloma in Cayman Brac last November received a boost from funds raised from the 4th annual NCB Charity Golf Tournament on 28 November.

The event organisers donated $17,500 to the National Recovery Fund (NRF) to assist Brac residents who are still reeling from last year’s devastation.

Tournament Director Mark Sorrill and Assistant Director Shahida Seymour said NCB usually aims to distribute the money raised among three local charities but chose to donate it all to the National Recovery Fund this year, having seen the devastation caused by the hurricane Paloma.

Dr Mark Laskin, Director of the NRF, thanked all those who sponsored or took part in the tournament, with special thanks to the platinum sponsors Lakeside, Sailfish Quay and Cypress Pointe, all of whom are NCB developments.

The CINRF was set up as a private, independent Trust to assist the people of the Cayman Islands in recovering from Hurricane Ivan, which hit Grand Cayman in September 2004.

The CINRF receives donations to support its recovery efforts.
