The Week of the Young Child finished on Saturday 11 March at Prospect Primary School Hall with a ‘Celebration of Young Children in Concert,’ hosted by the Cayman Islands Early Childhood Association.

The concert was attended by approximately 500 people.

There were children from many different pre-schools and primary schools represented at the concert, including the Achievement Centre, Sauna’s Early World, Sis Janice’s Learning Centre, George Town Primary School, Little Angel’s, and Sunny Smiles.

Children demonstrated many different talents during the spectacular musical presentation, as they sang, acted and recited poems.

The themes of the presentation were very varied, and included the alphabet, workers in the community, songs of praise, fruits and vegetables, nursery rhymes, and wise sayings. The concert replaced the annual Fun Day, but it was certainly a fun place to be on a Saturday afternoon.

With so many different children and preschools taking part, the concert was a practical demonstration of the theme of the Week of the Young Child: “Working Together to Build a Strong Foundation.”
