A regular visitor to the Cayman Islands and a property owner here, Martin Kaiser was at Hobbies and Books, Piccadilly Centre this week, signing his new book, Odyssey of an Eavesdropper: My Life in Electronic Counter Measures and My Battle Against the FBI. Having worked under contract for the FBI and other domestic and foreign agencies, Mr Kaiser knows all there is to know about surveillance and how to avoid it.

As well as writing, what is described by the critics as, a fascinating book, he has consulted on many Hollywood features, including the Matrix and Enemy of the State, which he says with the help of his expertise the movies were more realistic. Mr Kaiser’s book comes highly recommended by numerous critics as he takes his readers on a fascinating journey of the workings of US government agencies and intelligence, in particular the FBI.

Mr Kaiser reveals much about his own tragic yet compelling story which began to go awry when he exposed certain pricing irregularities with invoices for his equipment and services. In the wake of his work for various Government agencies, he began a gruelling ordeal of court appearances and was indicted for illegal wiretapping and other crimes. Eventually he was acquitted on all charges however, his business was left in ruins and he suffered an emotional breakdown.

The book also warns of the lack of privacy in modern America and how much anonymity Americans have left.
