Chief Secretary takes on new Personal Assistant

The Chief Secretary, the Hon. George McCarthy, is announcing the newest addition to his staff, Personal Assistant Betty-Ruth Ebanks.

Ms Ebanks has an extensive background as a civil servant, having worked in the Cayman Islands Hospital for 15 years and then as assistant permanent secretary from 1986 to 2000. At this time she took early retirement to attend to her ageing parents, who are now deceased.

She earned her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami in 1996. She has also participated in Government’s mentoring programme for supervisors; is a trained Strategic Planning facilitator; and assisted with the Government’s clerical training programme.

Ms Ebanks has received the Cayman Islands Badge and Certificate Honour, and the British Empire Medal for her contributions to the youth of the Cayman Islands.
