A resident is being commended for assisting in the prevention of 5lbs of ganja getting to its intended destination, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has reported. .
On Friday, 17 March, a man walking in East End contacted the 911 Emergency Communications Centre to say he had come across a package which looked like it contained drugs. Officers attended the scene and found that the package did indeed contain around 5lbs of ganja.
Chief Inspector Adrian Seales, the Area Commander said: “We would like to commend the man for his vigilance and his assistance in removing these drugs from circulation.” “We are fighting hard against those that partake in the supply and consumption of drugs and we hope this goes to show that the community is also fighting back,” Mr Seales said.
The drugs, which could have a potential street value of around $20,000 have been sent for destruction. This find follows a recent drugs operation carried out in East End which saw 8lbs of ganja ($35,000 worth) being recovered and four men arrested.
