Tricia Oliphant |
After graduating from St Matthew’s University of Medicine this month, Tricia Oliphant will be going to New Jersey to start another six years of training to become an oncologist.
“I wasn’t sure I could handle it emotionally until I did my clinical rotation in oncology,” said Ms Oliphant.
“The patients I worked with were honest and kind and just wanted someone to help them.”
Ms Oliphant wants to practice medicine in the Cayman Islands after she finishes her training, but with another six more years she said it feels too far away.
“I really miss my family, but we just found out there is a direct flight to New Jersey so that makes it easier,” she said.
