Hon. Mr Justice Alexander Henderson recently welcomed one of Walkers’ new legal experts to the Cayman Islands Bar at a hearing in the Grand Court.

Nicola Bashforth was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law after an application made by Angus Foster, Partner and Head of Litigation at Walkers.

In introducing Mrs Bashforth to the Court Mr Foster explained that she was educated in England where she obtained a First Class Law Degree with Honours.  She then completed the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns’ of Court School of Law and was called to the Bar in England as a Barrister in 1999.

Following that she undertook Pupillage at a well-known Barristers Chambers at Lincoln’s Inn and practised as a Barrister in Chancery and Commercial work. She then moved to work as a securitisation lawyer at Clifford Chance in London and was subsequently admitted as a Solicitor.

Having worked for a short time with a niche practice specialising in property finance transactions she worked latterly in-house for a retail and import company in Central London where she was responsible for all corporate, property and shipping matters.

Mr Foster explained that Mrs Bashforth will be joining Walkers Corporate and International Finance Department where she will work with the Structured Finance Group specialising in securitisations and related work.

He said that he and his Partners were very pleased to welcome someone with Mrs Bashforth’s experience to the Firm.

Mr Justice Henderson welcomed Mrs Bashforth to the Cayman Islands Bar and said that she was fortunate to be joining a pre-eminent law firm.

He reminded her that she was now an officer of the Court and of her duties and responsibilities as such.
