Parliament returns with budget

After HE the Governor Stuart Jack prorogued the 2005-06 session of the House he summoned the new session of Parliament for 2006/07 for Friday, 28 April.
The first meeting will be opened by the Speaker, Hon. Edna M Moyle, MLA, at 9.40 am. The House will then rise to await the arrival of the Governor and Mrs Jack who will be met by the Speaker on the steps of the building. The Governor will accept the salute and inspect a Guard of Honour presented to him by officers of the RCIPS on the steps of the building.
At 10:00 am he will enter the Chamber to deliver his maiden Throne Speech.
Government’s budget follows, including the Budget Address from the Financial Secretary, Hon. Kenneth Jefferson. He will present the Government’s annual plan and estimates for the financial year to 30 June 2007.
Government will then move that the House debate the Throne Speech and the Budget Address on Wednesday 3 May.
Following this, the Leader of Government Business, Hon. Kurt Tibbetts, will deliver a statement outlining Government’s key policies for the 2006/7 fiscal year.
The House will then adjourn until the following week.
Members of the public are invited to attend the Opening of Parliament and need to be seated by 9.30 am.
