With the last couple of weeks featuring CIFA Under-18 FA Cup play as well as Admiral league play, teams have certainly been getting a good workout.

On Saturday 29 April, Academy was at home to Elite at what was certainly a slight change from the usual Thursday afternoon games in the Admiral league. Neither team seemed to mind though, as they got down to business. The two teams were level on points at the start of the game, which meant that the winner would move up into solo second position in the league – certainly a prize worth fighting for.

It became clear early on that home field advantage was not going to be enough for Academy, as Elite took control of the game and never looked back.

When the dust had settled after the final whistle, it was Elite who walked away with a 9-0 victory, moving them up into second position in the league.

League leaders George Town took on perennial danger team Bodden Town at the Annex, and with both teams in the top three in the attack and defence ratings, it was certain to be a closely contested affair.

Although both teams have excellent attacking players, it was the defenders who held sway on the day, as both teams struggled to create scoring opportunities. Unfortunately for Bodden Town, their keeper made the mistake of venturing too far out of his goal, and George Town managed to slip the ball into the net to take a 1-0 lead. The game remained close to the very end, but Bodden Town could not manage to recover, and George Town took a 1-0 win.

The win meant that George Town remained unbeaten in the league, and well ahead of their closest competitor Elite.

On Wednesday 3 May, Sunset took on East End at St Ignatius in a bottom of the table clash. With one league win to their credit this season, Sunset found itself in better shape than East End, who still had to score their first win of the season.

However, things certainly looked up for East End when they scored the first goal of the game, taking a 1-0 lead. Then, as suddenly as their dreams had risen, they were crushed. A penalty allowed Sunset to draw level, to be followed shortly thereafter by another Sunset goal. These two goals in quick succession left East End reeling, and a third followed soon thereafter.

East End never recovered, and Sunset eventually claimed a 6-1 victory.

The next round of play will take place on Wednesday 10 May when Sunset is set to take on Bodden Town at St Ignatius. On Thursday 11 May, Academy will face Future at Academy, with Elite taking on East End at the Annex. All games are scheduled to start at 4:30 pm.
