Representing the Cayman Islands at the Texas sales
blitz: L-R: Gladys  Howard of Pirate’s Point Resort,
Wendy Montoya and Tina Hodgson of the  Department
of Tourism

Fifty of Texas’ top travel agents were given a sampling of the culinary splendours of the Cayman Islands at an exciting sales blitz for the Southwest Region of the US.

The Department of Tourism held two VIP culinary events from 24 to 28 April in Dallas and Houston in Texas.

Caribbean cooking demonstrations were staged at Central Market’s cooking school to give travel agents a first-hand taste of true Caymanian cuisine.

Chefs focused on cooking tips and tricks for preparing the recipes so those in attendance could easily replicate the savoury meals in their own home.

Gladys Howard from Pirate’s Point Resort shared some of her own recipes for the cooking demonstrations.

At the events, Ms Howard sold over 50 copies of her cookbook ‘Cooking in Little Cayman’ with all proceeds going to the National Trust of the Cayman Islands.

There was also a full day training conference in Houston for the travel agents, which included a Cayman Island’s specialist course, a Master’s Dive, and a Master’s Family course.
