Another big player in Cayman business has thrown its weight behind the Cayman Islands Olympic Fundraising Committee’s drive to “Pave the Way to Beijing 2008”.
Re/Max, which supports charities and sports teams, became a Bronze sponsor of the CIOFC by purchasing a book of raffle tickets for a red Cayman S Porsche.
In fact, Michael Joseph, a sales associate of Re/Max, is an Olympian.
In 1996 Mr Joseph competed at the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he sailed with Alun Davies on the fastest boat in the yachting category, a two-man Tornado Catamaran.
Mr. Joseph said, “In sponsoring sports teams we are laying fundamental building blocks and helping children and young athletes to learn positive life lessons. I feel strongly about commitment, focus and teamwork, as this inevitably leads to a positive outcome in one form or another.”
He explained, “If I could take one thing away from the Olympic experience, I would have to say that everything is possible when you have the right support. Re/Max is proud to be supporting our shining 2008 Cayman Olympians.”
James Bovell, a partner at the real-estate giant, explained that Re/Max truly believes in team efforts. “We find that the synergy created can help to make a needed change of an affirmative nature. Some of our sponsoring efforts this year are Cayman HospiceCare, Special Olympics, Junior Achievement, Cancer Society, Little League, Junior Rugby, Raise the Roof, National Hurricane Relief Fund and of course the 2008 Beijing Games.”
CI Olympic Fundraising Committee chairperson Betty Baraud thanked Re/Max for its generous support.
“On behalf of our athletes I thank Re/Max management and sales associates for assisting us in this cause. This donation puts our athletes closer to achieving their goals of Olympic greatness. When we see or hear of our athletes on this world stage, we as a nation walk with our heads a little higher and a little extra spring in our steps. Companies that join us in the effort are not just helping one of our athletes, they are helping the nation,” she said.
