I lived on Grand Cayman for three years two different times and have been for vacation five times since 1991. I check out Cayman Net News online from the States every day and I have just finished reading Alvin’s letter: “You need us and we need you”.
He makes some great points about how the Island has changed and that visitors should be treated with kindness and respect by both Caymanians and ex-pats.
I have encountered Alvin several times while staying at the Hyatt and even golfed with him once. He was always friendly and accommodating and it was always wonderful to see a familiar face.
Handel, a Caymanian, who used to own Rackams and now the bar next to Public Beach, represents the best of the best locals. He was always overly generous and made us feel at home at his businesses and the Island.
It is incredible that Todd and Linda have purchased Rackams because they have worked very hard over the years they have been on Cayman.
I love Cayman. Remember, the weather is awesome on the Island but you cannot always control it, but both Caymanians and ex-pats can work together to keep the charm that has made the Island such a success.
