RCIPS Road Closure
The RCIPS announces a set of road closures that will be in place this weekend to facilitate birthday celebrations in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. On Friday 9 June from 6:00 am to 9:00 am the junctions of Harbour Drive and Fort Street, Mary Street and Fort Street in the area in front of the Legislative Assembly will be closed, and also on Saturday, 10 June from 7:30 am until 1:00 pm .

Cayman Outreach Dinner
Cayman Outreach Association invites interested persons to attend the Monthly Dinner in honour of Father’s Day on Saturday 17 June at 7:15 pm at the Family Life Centre. Tickets cost $15 pre-paid, and $20 at the door. Children: $5 at the door. Contact Raphael Bodden at 947-1771 by Friday Noon 16 June for reservations.

National Trust Dinner? It’s for the birds
The National Trust invites children to learn more about Cayman’s birds and care for them at the same time by joining the Trust for a fun presentation about the birds and then build a birdfeeder. Must bring along an empty milk or water bottle. Children of all ages welcome.

National Gallery’s Art Flix
Takes place on Wednesday 21 June, presenting one of a series of films and documentaries that trace the history of art at the National Gallery, Harbour Place.

National Gallery’s Still-Life guided Studio

National Trust Traditional Caymanian Cooking Class

UCCI Entrance Examination
The University College of the Cayman Islands will have an Entrance Examination sitting on Tuesday 20 June from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm at the college. Exam candidates must bring a pen, pencil, ruler and a silent calculator. Call 949-9580 for more information.

Blue Iguana Safari
The National Trust invites interested persons to Blue Iguana Safaris, Tuesdays in June. This one and a half hour fully guided tour takes persons behind the scenes at the captive breeding facility and out into the forest and gardens of the park in search of the free roaming animals. Cayman Islands Diabetes Association Meeting
The Cayman Islands Diabetes Association’s next monthly meeting is Wednesday 7 June at 6:00 pm at the Cayman Islands Hospital (Orchid Conference Room upstairs).

Lucy Martyr will present information learned from the recent Diabetes Conference in Jamaica. All are welcome.

The Stamp Advisory Committee
is asking the public if they would like to see on a stamp someone who has helped to shape the past or present of the Cayman Islands, whose path has been filled with greatness, who has been a trailblazer, an innovator, a doer. The criterion is that the person selected should have been deceased for at least 10 years. The categories are maritime, architecture, science, environment, health care, politics, sports, arts, and performance. The public is asked to send names and a brief explanation about each name submitted to Stamp Advisory Committee Secretary Nelva Ebanks at the General Post Office, or email
nelva.ebanks@gov.ky, by Thursday 8 June.

ITLD Courses
The International University of the Caribbean presents Counseling Theories – Individual from 8-12 June. They are also offering Master of Arts in Counseling, and Bachelors of Arts in Guidance Counseling and Certificate courses in Community Care as well as Biblical Leadership. Art Exhibition
Mélanie-Rose invites interested persons to join her on a walk through her exhibition ‘Stones of Memories: A Mythical History of Jewelry on Canvas’. This will take place on Saturday 10 June from 3-5:00 pm in the main lobby of the Westin Casuarina. Mélanie-Rose will share the myths and techniques she used to produce her works of art. Calvary Baptist Church’s Anniversary Services

Art Zone

The Marine Conservation Board
The Marine Conservation Board is reminding residents who do not possess Caymanian status, or who are on work permit, that a license is required if they wish to fish from shore for consumption. ‘Catch-and-release’sport fishing for game fish such as Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit etc. does not require a license. The general public is also reminded that the taking of any marine species of fish less than 8 inches in length is illegal anywhere and by any means in Cayman waters.  This does not apply to ‘baitfish species’ such as ‘Fry’, ‘Anchovy’, ‘Sprat’, or ‘Goggle Eye’. Those persons who possess fish pots are further reminded to follow construction specifications of the traps required by law.  Further information can be obtained from the Department of Environment offices at the Marco Giglioli Building on North Sound Road on 949-8469.

Barbeque Fun Evening

McCoy Prize Art Exhibition 2006
The McCoy Prize art exhibition has begun, and will remain open to the public until Friday 28 July. Viewing times will be 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Art Magnet
Are you middle-school aged, love art, and feeling lonely, or in trouble?  The National Gallery’s State Street-sponsored Art Magnet is a FREE programme for middle-school aged, children who have love art and are between ages 10-12.   Art Magnet takes place every Wednesday from 5:15-7:15 pm at the National Gallery Education Centre, Bay Town Plaza, West Bay Road Free transportation available in George Town area pending space.  Contact Letitia Davis Eden:

Art Sisters
The National Gallery’s Dart Foundation-sponsored Art Sisters uses art as a method of healing for female victims subjected to any kind of abuse.  Through artistic expression, women can find inner peace and strength.
