LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Upset over treatment of Cuban refugees

Thursday, June 8, 2006

Dear Sir:

Every time I read about our treatment of the Cuban refugees it upsets me. We deny fellow human beings a drink of water and yet we call ourselves a Christian country - what hypocrisy! Perhaps the policy-makers could refer to their Bibles and read Matthew 25:31-46.

No matter what our opinion may be about the conditions in Cuba, it should be quite obvious that something makes these people  desperate enough to risk their lives and the lives of their families to leave, so the least we should be able to do is give them something to eat or drink and help them on their way.

May God be with them in their travels and with those who offer them assistance.
