Man receives treatment for gunshot wound

Thursday, June 15, 2006

A man is currently being treated in hospital for a bullet wound to his leg following an incident which took place Sunday 11 June.

The 911 Emergency Communications Centre reported that it received a call at approximately 2:00 pm on Sunday afternoon from a woman reporting that her boyfriend had received an injury to his leg, thought to be a gunshot wound.

CID officers from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, (RCIPS) are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and how the man came to receive such a wound. Officers said that they would like to hear from anyone who heard a gun shot or saw something suspicious in the Daisy Lane area of West Bay between 1:00 - 2:00 pm last Sunday.

Anyone who can help police should contact West Bay CID on 949-3999 or call Crime Stoppers on 800 TIPS.

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and could be entitled to a cash reward should their information lead to an arrest.
