The recent RE/MAX Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic proved to be full of surprises and fun recently.
For the sixth consecutive year, RE/MAX and the Chamber of Commerce hosted a golf tournament to benefit local not-for-profit organisations. As is the case every year, some new innovations were added this year to increase the fun factor for all participants.
With over 120 participants and sponsorships from local and overseas companies, the tournament, held at the Britannia golf course, was not only marked by the enthusiasm of the participants, but also by their ever-present competitive spirit.
The competitive spirit was however not limited to the golfers. RE/MAX sales associates sponsored various tees, and the competition was on to come up with ideas to make their tees more interesting or fun than the others out on the course.
Sales associates Kerri Kanuga and Tamara Siemens raised an additional $800 for donation to the not-for-profit organisations with a unique putting game. Participants were required to putt rubber duckies into a pool of water - a task that proved much more challenging than the average golfer realised. It certainly did prove a novel take on the traditional game, and provided a welcome break from the competition out on the course.
Other sales associates had their own creative ways of coming up with entertainment, such as Neil Williams and Edna Ebanks who 'invited' famous stars to be at their tee, including Beyonce, Austin Powers and Marilyn Monroe.
Chamber CEO, Wil Pineau welcomed the agents' involvement, "The involvement of the associates from RE/MAX at their various tees made a huge difference in the entire tournament - everyone was in higher spirits than in previous years".
The Kirk Office team took away the coveted "Best Team Score". The team members, Nettie Howe, John Epp, and Richard Narraine will receive recognition on the Golf Classic Cup, which is housed at the RE/MAX Cayman Islands Office.
Other winners included Richard McMillan, who won the award for the Longest Drive Men; Nettie Howe, who took the Longest Drive Women award; Brett Hill, who claimed Closest to the Pin Men; Mary McCallum, who took Closest to the Pin Women; and Don Miller, who won Putt for Cash.
A complete list of winners can be found on the Chamber of Commerce website at www.caymanchamber.ky.
The Chamber of Commerce thanks all of the sponsors of the Golf Classic. RE/MAX, Baptist Health International Center of Miami, Campbells Attorneys-at-Law, and Dart Management Limited were the major sponsors of the golf classic, with Cayman National, Cayman Free Press, GM International, and Kiss 106.1 being Supporting Sponsors.
Additional sponsors, at the associate sponsor level, included Anglin-Lewis & Associates Ltd., ecay, H20Only, Vampt Motors, and RE/MAX Sales associates: Neil Williams, Edna Ebanks, Susan Boyko, April Anderson, Keri Kanuga, Tamara Siemens, Michael Joseph, and Kass Coleman. The Hole-in-One sponsorship was provided by AutoHaus, with the Longest Drive Sponsor being Quin and Hampson and finally the "Putt for Cash" competition was sponsored by Bank Austria. Additional Donations were made by Britannia Golf Course, Digicel, Island Companies, Lobster Pot, Dr Bert Thacker, Workplace Environment, Vigoro Nursery, and World Gym & Fitness Centre.
