In conjunction with the Cayman Islands branch, next month, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) London Branch, will be hosting a visit of five Parliamentarians to this country to discuss the politics, problems and development of the country.

In order to discuss the visit the Hon Speaker Edna Moyle, Chairman of the CPA Cayman Branch, took the opportunity whilst in London recently to accompany Jennifer Dilbert, the Cayman Islands UK Representative, to a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Cayman Islands (APPG), at which several of the CPA delegation were present.

Mrs Moyle and Mrs. Dilbert met with officials at the London branch of the CPA and members of the delegation, which will be headed by Lord Davies, Chairman of the APPG, who also led a delegation in 2004 on a visit arranged by Mrs Dilbert.

A similar busy programme is said to have been put together for the visit and the itinerary will include meetings and briefings with MLAs, Senior Government Officers, and Private
Sector representatives to discuss what was described in a release as current issues, policies, problems and development in the Cayman Islands.

The Cayman Branch of the CPA saisd that the purpose of the visit is to familiarize the delegation, and through them the APPG as a whole, with as many aspects of the Cayman Islands as possible.

The programme will also include visits to historical and cultural sites to promote a first hand appreciation of Caymanian history and culture.

The visiting delegation comprises the Chairman of the APPG Lord Davies of Coity, four members of Parliament: The Right Hon Greg Knight MP, Eleanor Laing MP, Brian Donohoe MP, Eric Martlew MP and CPA Representative Helen Hayward.

Mrs Dilbert has reportedly met separately with the delegation to brief them on the Cayman Islands in preparation for their visit.

She provided them with briefing packs which include information on Cayman, the financial industry, the Government and biographies for all Members of the Legislative Assembly.

The Hon. Speaker also paid a call on the Rt. Hon Denis Marshall, Secretary General of the CPA and  visited her colleagues at the CPA Headquarters in London.

Mrs Moyle was in the UK primarily to attend The Queen's 80th Birthday Ceremonial Service at St Paul's Cathedral which was held on Thursday 15 June in the presence of the entire Royal Family.

The Service was also attended by Mr and Mrs Dilbert and other Overseas Territories Representatives in London.
