Pearson Best

A quiet man who according to Coach Theo Cuffy, "Talks with his bat", Pearson Best is a familiar face on the local cricket scene playing for Police.

Married with a daughter, he was born in Barbados where cricket is a way of life and has been involved in the sport since the age of 15. The recent Stanford 20/20 match has in his opinion let, "the world see that Cayman cricket is on the up and up". Talking about the Stanford series he said that he was honoured to represent the Cayman Islands and that in the future he wants to do what ever he can to help cricket in Cayman mature.

Pearson credits his cricket performance with patience and careful shot selection, giving thanks to Jimmy Powell. He also recognised the support given by the RCIPS who have given him time off to train and compete.

With his time fully committed to cricket there is no time for other sports. Asked about his greatest achievement in cricket so far he cited the 2005 season when he scored five consecutive centuries.

Looking forward to the forthcoming match against Trinidad he feels simply that, "We have to up our game one more level" and said that he was "going into the game with an open mind".

He gets great satisfaction from achieving things in life and believes the secret to success is, "Never give up."
