Dancing for Jamaican Independence

Saturday, July 29, 2006

GT Taylor

Cable & Wireless and Grace Tropical Rhythms are joining forces to present the official Jamaica Independence dance and concert in the Cayman Islands on Friday 4 August at Welly's Cool Spot.

Featuring GT Taylor and the GT aggregation with Special guest performer - the many time festival song winner Roy Rayon, plus local DJ's Jazzy B from Vibe FM and DJ Marlon.

Like a phoenix ever rising, George 'G.T.' Taylor is described as a colossal force on the Jamaican entertainment scene. With a career spanning three decades, the articulate broadcaster continues to create his own niche for the next millennium.

His programmes "Juggling" on Thurday nights and "In the Dancehall" on Friday nights are two of the most popular night time shows, where he totally revolutionized and captured night radio.

GT has played for and entertained audiences all over the world  from the US and Canada to Europe and the Caribbean.  Along with the The GT Aggregation Cayman will be in for a treat.

A Jamaican Independence Event would not be complete without a performance from a festival song winner and Roy Rayon is the performer who best fit that bill. Roy has been singing and performing for the past twenty years. In 1984 he came second with an immensely popular song "Mek Wi Dweet".

In 1985 he won his first festival song competition with "Love Fever" and won again in 1987 with "Give Thanks and Praise".

For three consecutive years he was adjudged "Best Performer". With his string of popular songs and great performing ability Cayman is in for a treat.

Jamaica will be celebrating 44 years of independence and as a special Independence treat the first 444 persons through the gate will receive a Jamaican flag and a gift  courtesy of  Cable & Wireless, Grace Coconut Water, NCB Senvia and Cayman Jam Boutique.

Tickets available at Funky Tangs, Reflections, Welly's and Cayman Jam Boutique. Cayman Jam Boutique is also offering free tickets to customers who spend $50 in the store.
