It was the Hon. Mr. Justice Sanderson who recently admitted two Walkers Lawyers as Attorneys-at-Law in the Grand Court.
Nicole Pineda and Christine Rose-Smyth were introduced to the court by Diarmad Murray, a partner in the Litigation Department at Walkers.
Ms Pineda obtained a summa cum laude degree in International Economics from The George Washington University, USA, before graduating from Oxford University, England with an honours degree in Jurisprudence.
Ms Pineda trained as a solicitor with Clifford Chance in London and Tokyo prior to qualifying in Clifford Chance's Securitisation Department in London in 2002, where she worked on securitisation transactions.
In 2003, Ms. Pineda joined the Securitisation Department of Allen & Overy in Frankfurt where she advised on a wide range of transaction structures.
Ms Pineda will be joining Walkers' Corporate and International Finance Department and specialising principally in securitisations, secured note programmes, CDOs, repackagings and other structured finance and capital markets transactions.
Mr Murray said that he and his partners were very pleased to welcome Ms Pineda to the firm.
Originally a marine biologist, Mrs Rose-Smyth was a graduate student at the University of the West Indies, researcher at University College Cork and holds an honours degree in Natural Science from Trinity College, Dublin.
In 2003, she completed the Professional Practice Course at the Cayman Islands Law School with distinction, having obtained an LLB (Hons) from the University of Liverpool in 2002. She completed her professional training with Walkers.
Prior to this, Mrs. Rose-Smyth was the Manager of Corporate Services at Trident Trust Company (Cayman) Limited. She has twelve years experience in company, partnership, fiduciary, and fund administration matters and is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
Mrs Rose-Smyth will be joining Walkers' Corporate and International Finance Department where she will work on a range of corporate and commercial transactions, including structured finance and investment funds.
Mr Murray said that he and his partners were again delighted to welcome Mrs. Rose-Smyth to the firm.
Mr. Sanderson welcomed both Ms Pineda and Mrs Rose-Smyth to professional practice in the Cayman Islands and wished them well in their future careers.
