Young football enthusiasts can look forward to two weeks of non-stop action this summer at a series of FC International Football Camps co-sponsored by Digicel.

The camps aim to develop a love for football in young athletes by showing them how to accelerate their own progress and success.

By partnering with Digicel and working with talented coaches, the camps aim to offer an unforgettable growth experience no matter what the children's age or skill level.

Children between the ages of five and sixteen are encouraged to participate in the four camps being offered throughout the Islands. The first camp will be held at the T.E McField Annex playing field from 14-18 August. Next is a one-day camp at the Savannah Primary School Field on 19 August. For children residing in the district of North Side there will be a week long camp over 21-25 August and those living in Cayman Brac can enjoy a one day camp on 26 August.

The intention of the FC International Football Camps is to help young players become fitter, stronger, faster and more skilful in a fun yet challenging environment.

"We would like to thank Digicel for sharing our passion and vision for the development of football within the Cayman Islands. Through the continued support of local businesses like Digicel, we have been able to provide a free football camp for young athletes since 1994," said FC International President Kennedy Ebanks.

"These camps have continually proven to be successful in their primary objectives as many of the past participants have grown up to become some of the best football players in the Cayman Islands. The camps aim to give participants a well-rounded experience not only in the sport of football but in many different areas. For example, we invite members of the community to come and talk to the kids about drugs, 911 services and natural disasters, " Mr. Ebanks added.

The primary goal of the camps is to educate students in a fun and exciting environment so they leave the camp with a renewed energy, enthusiasm for the sport, and improved self-confidence, all important factors to becoming a great football player.

Digicel Head of Marketing Tina Trumbach said that Digicel was honoured to partner with FC International in such a great community program that targets the development of our youth.

"We recognize the importance of providing positive summer activities for youth, and congratulate FC International on its dedication to doing this for many years," she said.

"We anticipate that these camps will provide participants with valuable learning tools for their development, not only as young athletes but as well-rounded members of our community."

Digicel supports football in the Cayman Islands and throughout the Caribbean. Locally, the company hosts the Digicel Cayman Cup tournament and also provides support to youth football programmes.

Regionally, Digicel is the primary sponsor of the Digicel Caribbean Cup.
