With the closing date on Friday 11 August, residents are being urged to submit their nominations for the FirstCaribbean International Bank Cayman's Unsung Heroes 2006 awards.
Unsung Heroes is a programme sponsored by FirstCaribbean International Bank, which is designed to seek out and acknowledge those persons in the community who go about their community work without consideration for reward or acclaim.
Started in 2003 in three countries, the programme now includes all of the 17 countries in which FirstCaribbean International Bank operates.
A total of two of the country's finalists will be chosen from the nominations that come in from the Cayman public, the bank said, adding that it will make a donation of US$5,000 to the cause championed by each of these individuals and their names will then be submitted to a regional panel where they will be considered for the title of Regional Hero.
A further donation of US$7,500 will be made to the cause of the regional winner and US$5,000 to those charities nominated by the regional runners up.
FirstCaribbean said it is important for it to do its part in nurturing the region's society by encouraging people to continue with their excellent work.
Criteria for selection is noted on the nomination forms which are available at FirstCaribbean International Bank branches in George Town, Plaza Venezia and Regatta Corporate Centre. They can also be downloaded from FirstCaribbean's website at www.firstcaribbeanbank.com.
