Even with two deadlines missed, and another close at hand, Hon Arden McLean, Minister of Communications, Works and Infrastructure made yet another promise in relation to the Esterley Tibbetts Highway project.
At the People's Progressive Movement (PPM) National Council Meeting in West Bay he promised no cost overruns on the job.
Mr McLean said the Highway had been planned for "twenty or thirty years" and the incumbent administration was getting the job done in seven or eight months.
Mr McLean restated his commitment to getting the highway completed "with chip-and-spray" by the end of August.
His major concern with meeting the new deadline was for it to be "safe."
Asked by a member of the audience whether the delays so far have resulted in increased costs, he said no.
"Eighteen million was the first costing and, up to this point, we have just spent over six (million) and there are no overruns." The occasion was the first PPM meeting in West Bay for a long time and Mr McLean made a promise to residents of that district.
"I promise West Bayers to have the highway gazetted into West Bay."
