A Christmas Tree fundraiser for CCMI

Saturday, September 9, 2006

This year, the Central Caribbean Marine Institute's Second Annual Festival of Trees will include ten beautifully decorated Christmas Trees and Holiday Wreaths with exciting gift packages included with each tree and will take place on 1 December.

The special evening celebration will feature a cocktail reception, a three course dinner, wine, and a fun auction hosted by Ristorante Pappagallo.

The proceeds will benefit Cayman's only conservation organization with a mission of sustaining the biodiversity of our incredible coral reefs through research and education - The Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI).

The funds will be used to support the Coral Reef Conservation and Education Fund which supports scholarships for Caymanian youth to participate in Caribbean Sea Camp and for improving the technologies and operations at Little Cayman Research Center.

The CCMI Caribbean Sea Camp activities integrate the fun of science into learning experiences that work to develop long-term, positive attitudes about marine conservation, because the future of the coral reefs on many Caribbean Islands will ultimately depend on the attitude of the youth of the Islands and their knowledge of current issues and trends in the management of these ecosystems.
