I read your latest article on the Divi timeshare resort. Isn’t it time the Cayman government stepped in and passed some laws protecting timeshare owners?
First it was Indies Suites, then issues with Morritts owners, and now Divi.
I own a timeshare in the Cayman Islands, whose name I won’t mention for fear of retribution. We have never had a timeshare owners association or an annual audit.
One of our owners tried to get an audit because of large special assessments both before and after Ivan, but was rebuffed by management. They couldn’t afford the legal fees to pursue it, and after what your courts did to Indies Suites owners it was questionable how successful this owner would be in getting information that I feel owners have a right to.
We enjoy our trips to Grand Cayman, but it seems the government, or at least the previous government, would prefer visitors to arrive on cruise ships.
Cayman timeshares are getting a bad reputation.
